go fly a kite

So I’m coping with the Kimono as Art exhibit closing this week. I would link the site as usual, but it seems that even a few days after, they’ve already taken it down. Weird. We had a good run, didn’t we, kimono? I think I ended up seeing it four times, though that’s nothing compared to the final visitor counts. The last I heard, more than 50,000 people showed up through the run. That’s some serious attention, plus admissions! Now the next exhibits can’t help but be the same high-quality art!

Wait. Handbags and flowers? Really? That’s what I have to look forward to this summer?

Eh, we’ll see what happens.

Either way, the exhibit closed out with a really cool sort of craft expo/fair for kids this past Sunday. Kids visiting the Canton Country Day School could make fish prints, fold origami or decorate their own small kites to be flown in the end ceremony. Definitely a lot of fun, and the weather was perfect to play in the sky for a while. If I’d had time, I would’ve made my own.

This kid even colored the kite’s tail. Now that’s dedication.
